Yesterday Onno visited us. he came to pick up the rabbit ears handlebar and brought his camera.

Ride

Were having nice weather so we took some time to ride...in the afternoon.

The choppertown sideshow was blast

We had a good time, thanks Lutz. The '46 made there and back :) Sorry I forgot to take pictures...

Speedtwin back on the bench

I had some troubles with tuning the machine while she was warm. We discovered a problem with the ignition magneto. There was a lot of play on the axle and we thought the bearings where worn. I got new ones but it seemed the bearing insulating cup wasn't there. So the self extracting device became magnetic and staid open. Again something we didn't check ourselfs the first time. She's ready for a new testride now....

Since the kawa is gone my girl can't ride along so I made a new seatpan. But it my not be necessary, You'll see why soon.

I did a little testride today but it didn't went smooth. First of all she started from the first kick after a km she started running on 1cilinder than 2 and again 1 and so... One sparkplug didn't sparked the other very light. Back home it seemed the brand new Champion plug caps failed. Put the old ones on and it sparked like lighting. New testride, little stop to lower the jetneedle, poor running another stop to higher the jetneedle (back like it was) and she didn't start anymore :-(. So I needed to walk. Lucky enough I wasn't far from the shop :-). At home I changed the jetneedle and blowed some air in the carb holes, adjusted the jetpilot screw and first kick she starts.....ready  for the next testride.

Sorry for the lack off posts but that doesn't mean we didn't do anything. Except last weekend I was at Graspop metal meeting.

Johan cleaned his complete gillet and greased the necessary parts.

The engine is complete apart. The big end had some clearance and we're fixing that at the time. With a bush , new bearing needles and the lathe.

The Triumph 5T had a leaking headgasked because the new gaskets were to thin. Also mounted new clutch springs and the tool box. I'm making some passenger footpegs and a new seat so my girl can ride along . The kawa tracker got sold today so I'm in need of a new (old) dirtbike...

5T Triumph testride

Today I took the speedtwin out for a little testride. The carb is allmost right, a few little adjustments here and there , fix the oilleak on the pushrodtube and she's ready....

             Oh and just got a textmessage that my bicycle is finaly painted.....Saturday will be a busy day.
